Why We Should Have More Self Love

A happy day to you all. I am going to discuss the importance of self love. I believe it is something many of us are lacking in our lives, without even realising what it can do. This is something we can practice and it will soon become an automatic habit.

What Exactly is Self Love?

In a nutshell, self love is being aware of yourself. It can be related to happiness, our mind and spirit, our entire well-being. If you have read my previous few posts, you will know that I believe everything comes from the inside. Self love is the same, it comes from the soul.¬†You will know when you have learnt how to love yourself. That is when you appreciate yourself, you’ll be filled with positive energy and you’ll become more open and giving.

How Do I Love Myself?

Everyone will have different ideas of what they can do to improve themselves. Self improvement never stops, we continue to grow as we learn more about ourselves each waking day. Sometimes its okay to be selfish. That does not mean you should stop caring for those you love. It simply means respect yourself.

These are a few of the things I incorporate into my everyday routine which may help you too:

  • Take a few moments each day to reflect. Maybe it is first thing when you wake up, last thing before you go to bed, or at a point during the day. Either way, just take a few minutes to sit and breathe deeply. Reconnect with your own thoughts and emotions. Ask yourself how you are feeling. You may to prefer to do this by practising yoga or meditation. Find the time for YOU.
  • Send your body love. The thoughts in our minds are reflected through our bodies. If you fill your mind with encouraging words of love, then your body will thank you for it.
  • Talk to yourself. Okay, maybe not in public (although sometimes I do). This can be either in your head or out loud, whichever you prefer. Just remind yourself that you are great, you are beautiful, you are loved.

How Will This Help Me?

Finally, I believe that treating yourself with words of kindness can only benefit you. The better you treat yourself, the better you’ll feel about yourself. It is likely to boost your confidence and self assurance. The more love you have to give, the more comfortable you will feel with yourself. This is a great way of improving your mood.

How will anyone else ever learn to love you if you can’t learn to love yourself? Think about this before you stand in front of the mirror and put yourself down. If you are not happy with something, learn to love it. However, its never to late to make a change. Therefore, if you want to break a habit, do it. The only person stopping yourself is YOU. You’re in charge of your own life. You are responsible for your own body. You are the one thinking the thoughts in your head. Learn how to feel good now, this moment is the only one we have.
