Life is… a challenge, an adventure, an unpredictable journey. Whatever life is, we are all living one right here and now, and not everything is easy. Difficulties arise each day, but our reactions to these are what really matter.
The Ups & Downs, the Highs & Lows
We all know life is filled with ups and downs. Not everything that happens is ideal, expected or desired.
Everyone goes through difficulties at some stage in their lives, some seemingly more than others. Or, perhaps, some focus on the negatives more than others.
If you know me, you will know that I am a generally really positive character. However, of course, just like everyone else, I have hard days, sad days, unproductive days.
I like to think I’m quite good at recognising when something is not quite right with myself. I’ll ask myself why I feel like this and try and snap out of it, or change something to make myself feel better. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I’m unsuccessful and the little procrastinating, moaning creature inside of me takes over. I just accept it, move on and know that tomorrow is another day.
It is easier said than done to just pull yourself together and get on with it. I’m guilty of thinking this about other people, but that is because that is the easy thing to say.
We never really know what others are going through. For some, they can’t see life with a positive mindset because of their current attitude. But they can change this. All of us can change our thoughts.
Change What you Can Control
Your thoughts and your mindset it the one thing to can control. You can create situations in your head, for better or for worse.
I am a firm believer in what we think about comes about. If you focus on the positives, you will begin to realise more positives.
Seeking Help with Difficulties
If you are in a low place, it is useless for someone to tell you to be positive. That’s actually probably the last thing you want to hear. What you can do though, is seek help. Talking and sharing problems is so much more beneficial than we realise. If you are facing a troublesome time or need help, accepting this and reaching out is such a huge step.
People are kind. People understand, they listen. If your friends are any friends at all, they will want to help you. There is a lot of negativity out there, but underneath it all, I believe we are good people.
I’d like to think that if we all reach out a little more, care a little more and love a little more, then the world will be a much better place. Check in with your loved ones. Ask people if they are okay. If they aren’t, they might not tell you straight away, but they will likely appreciate being checked up on.
We are all human and we are all here for a limited number of years. Let’s make the most of it and spread more love.
